About Course

Oxfordian College is offering the TQUK Level 3 Award in Education and Training (RQF) an introductory teaching qualification, which prepares learners for teaching or training in a wide range of contexts.

 

The qualification is suitable for individuals who wish to teach in the Further Education and Skills Sector and forms a foundation for those with little or no previous experience of teaching or training.

There are many opportunities after completing Level 3 Award in Education and Training. Most people choose to enrol on the Level 4 course before the Level 5 but it is not a requirement. Successful learners can progress to other teaching, training, assessment and internal quality assurance qualifications such as:
▪ Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training
▪ Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training
▪ Level 3 Award in Understanding the Principles and Practices of Assessment
▪ Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment
▪ Level 3 Award in Assessing Vocational Related Achievement
▪ Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
▪ Level 4 Award in Understanding the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
▪ Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
▪ Level 4 Certificate in Leading the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice
▪ Level 4 Award in Learning and Development
▪ Level 4 Diploma in Learning and Development

Getting a teaching /learning qualification opens many doors to new roles. Some teaching/training roles will require you to have a Level 5 Diploma or QTLS to apply, whereas others won’t have any specific entry requirements. The best way is to opt for a higher level qualification that will improve your job prospects.
Here are some examples of areas in which you can work after your Award:
▪ Preparing learners for work and sharpening professional skills
▪ Teaching subjects at GCSE and A-level
▪ Teaching basic skills in numeracy and literacy

Unit 1: Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training.

You will need to complete a written assignment reflecting your knowledge around legal responsibilities, equality and diversity, individual needs of learners, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment and your role as a teacher and your superiors.

Unit 2: Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training.

You will need to complete a written assignment reflecting your knowledge and understanding of inclusive teaching and learning, understanding strengths and limitations of your own role, how to motivate learners, ground rules and teaching and learning resources.

You will need to perform a micro-teach(this is recorded and uploaded to your online learning account) 15 minutes – 1 hour long teaching a session of your choice to a group of at least 3 people of your own choice.

 

Unit 3: Understanding assessment in education and training.

You will need to complete a written assignment reflecting your knowledge around the purpose of assessment, different assessment types, how to conduct assessments, understanding the involvement of learners in assessment, reasons for constructive feedback and effective recording keeping of assessments.
